Before scheduling a formal appointment, it can be helpful for both of us to have a chance to talk with each other and get a few questions answered. You can get a sense of my communication/therapeutic style, while I gather some information about what you'd like to work on. This allows you to make an informed decision on whether you'd like to start services with me, and me to share how I can help.
The intake assessment is the first formal appointment where I focus on gathering information about your concerns, symptoms, family background, and cultural contexts. You will find me asking you questions and taking notes, which will be quite different from a standard session. We will then discuss your goals and session frequency. Occasionally, the assessment process may take more than one session. In those cases, subsequent assessment sessions will be billed as follow-up sessions.
Individuals (60 to 75 minutes) - $250
Families (90 minutes) - $425
Follow-up appointments are where we dive in and do the work. For most people, weekly standard sessions work well for them, though session duration and frequency may vary based on unique needs and goals.
Individuals
Standard Session (55 minutes) - $220
Extended Session (90 minutes) - $350
Brief Session (30 minutes) - $120
Families
Standard session (60 minutes) - $250
Extended Session (90 minutes) - $375
I ask that clients let me know 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time if they are not able to attend. The same rates above will be charged for scheduled appointments if clients do not attend without prior notice ("no-show") or cancel within 24 hours ("late-cancel").
Clients are asked to enter credit or debit card information when completing new client paperwork on the Client Portal. Payments are typically processed at the end of each appointment. I do not accept cash, check, or other forms of digital payments (e.g., Venmo, PayPal, etc.) at this time.
I do not accept insurance at this time. If you receive out-of-network benefits from your insurance carrier, I can provide a receipt with appropriate details ("superbill") for you to request reimbursement from your insurance carrier*, if applicable.
*Note that clients may not submit a superbill for my services to Medicare, because I am an opt-out provider for Medicare.
If you'd like to call your insurance ahead of time to verify your out-of-network benefits, it can be helpful to tell them the billing codes you expect your healthcare provider to use. Here are the billing codes I typically use:
For individuals
90791 - Intake Appointment
90837 - Individual Therapy Appointment (53 minutes or longer)
90834 - Individual Therapy Appointment (38-52 minutes) - typically used if sessions start late or end early by client request
90832 - Individual Therapy Appointment (16-37 minutes)
For families
90791 - Intake Appointment
90846 - Family Therapy Appointment without Patient present
90847 - Family Therapy Appointment with Patient present
(for billing purposes, one family member will be assigned as the "identified patient")
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-877-696-6775.
